Roger holds 8 Salesforce certifications (Admin, Sales, Service, Community, Education and Nonprofit Consultant, Platform App Builder, Pardot Specialist)

Prior to moving into Salesforce Consulting, Roger spent 20 years in fund development, finance, operations and program management in nonprofits. He has written 300+ grant proposals, solicited hundreds of individual major gifts, overhauled dozens of Salesforce and Raiser's Edge and other fund development, marketing and program management databases. Roger managed teams of 5-15 in organizations with revenue budgets from $250K to $12M+ and everywhere in between.

Roger was previously the Grants Director for TransForm, where he updated that organization’s Salesforce org with enhanced cultivation systems, approval processes and reporting. As the Executive Director for the Mind Body Awareness Project, which teaches mindfulness and emotional awareness programs to youth in the juvenile justice system, he overhauled our website, migrated our data to Salesforce and integrated our CRM with email marketing and fundraising. He served as the Interim Director of Development for As You Sow and managed the grants portfolio and expand our corporate sponsorship support by implementing better SF systems.

While serving as the General Manager of
Yosemite Conservancy, he directed five diverse programs (Outdoor Adventures, Wilderness, Volunteer, Art and Theater) that served almost 1 million visitors to Yosemite National Park every year. Roger managed 11 staff and oversaw human resources, IT and infrastructure operations for our 43 in-park staff. He made sure we started tracking quantitative results, created metrics dashboards that tied program statistics to budgets and actuals and used these tools to fine tune or make radical shifts where necessary.

As the Development Manager for Redefining Progress, a sustainability and social justice think- tank, Roger researched, developed cultivation strategies, and implemented foundation and major donor solicitation plans and overhauled our Raiser’s Edge database. As the Membership Manager at
Rainforest Action Network (RAN), he grew, refined and increased the profitability of our individual donor efforts during a time of significant turnover in the development team. Roger directed migration of the donor database to Raiser’s Edge and managed six renewals, five appeals and two direct mail acquisitions, two telefundraising and numerous targeted email campaigns every year.

Roger has a Masters of Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco and his thesis focused on the leadership styles for successful collaboration between environmental advocacy organizations.  He graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with undergraduate degrees in Finance and German.
